Welcome to the 19 Infantry Battalion F.C.A. Association. Our Association was inaugurated on 11th June 2008 and officially launched by Lt. Gen. Jim Shreenan ( Retired ) on Sunday 27th September 2009 in Boyle. The Association consists of F.C.A. & P.D.F. members of the former 19 Infantry Battalion. The aim of the Association is for members of the former Battalion to keep in contact with each other.

Christmas and New Year’s Wishes
The President, Chairman and Committee wish all members of the Association and all those who served with the 19th Infantry Battalion together with their families a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with peace and happiness.
The AGM (at 7pm) and ANNUAL SOCIAL (at 8pm) will be held in the Bush Hotel Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday 26th January 2018. Tickets €20.
Members are reminded that membership fees fall due on 1st January 2018. It would be great if they were paid before the AGM. The Association is grateful to all members for their continued support in this matter
Mass and Unveiling of 1916 Plaque. Boyle, 12th November 2017

There was a good turnout of members and friends at the annual mass for deceased members of the 19th Inf Bn FCA in Boyle on Sunday 12th November. After mass the third 1916 memorial plaque in the Bn area was unveiled adjacent to Boyle Garda station. There was a large attendance at the event. The MC for the occasion was Seamus Flynn and Francie Geelan gave the commands. Lt. Jackie O'Connor and Sgt. Marty Higgins made up the flag party. The proclamation was read by Lt Russell Waldron. Liam McDermott and Niall McGarry unveiled the plaque. Our association president Tommy Heraghty laid a wreath handed to him by John Mangan. A minutes silence was observed. The Last Post and Reveille was sounded by an army bugler and drummer. Patsy Quinn sung Amhran na bhFiann and the assembly was dismissed. Tea etc. was served in St. Joseph's Hall. We sincerely thank all who attended and made this a moving and memorable occasion. Thanks also to the PDF and the Reserve, Roscommon County Council, Tommie Egan, Garda Siochana, The Fishing Club, Volunteer caterers, Roscommon Herald, Boyle Today, Real Boyle and the Army School of Music.

Unveiling of 1916 Memorial Plaque, Manorhamilton, Sunday 8th Oct 2017

The 19th Infantry Battalion FCA Association unveiled a 1916 Memorial Plaque at The Castle, Manorhamilton on Sunday 8th Oct 2017. This is the second of 3 plaques to be erected by the Association in counties Sligo, Leitrim & Roscommon. The proceedings commenced at the Castle Cafe with a history talk on 'Manorhamilton in 1916', given by local historian Margaret Connolly. The plaque was unveiled by Tommy Sheridan and a wreath was laid by association President, Tommy Heraghty. Sean Keaney gave a fine rendition of our National Anthem & the 1916 Proclamation was read by Sean Farrell. The event was attended by Association members, Members of ONE, UN Veterans & Civil Defence along with many Manorhamilton Residents. A Flag Party & Piper from the 28th Inf Bn, Finner Camp added greatly to the occasion. Following the unveiling, the attendees enjoyed light refreshments in Heraghtys Bar.

The Unveiling of the Associations first 1916 Memorial Plaque took place in the Sligo Folk Park, Riverstown on Sun the 10th of Sept. The Veteran's organisations were represented by the O.N.E, U.N.V.A and our own members turned out in large numbers. It was also attended by the Defence Forces, An Garda Siochana, Civil Defence, Public Representives and the general public. The Event went well and was greatly enhanced by the participation of the Defence Forces and our own Association Colour Party. The Plaque itself is set on a limestone pillar which predates the 1916 Rising by a considerable period of time. This majestic piece of stone stood in the Sligo countryside we estimate for over 200 years and can into the future provide a focal point for our members to gather, to chat and remember.
90th Anniversary Countess Markievicz, Sligo, 15th July 2017.
Members of the 19th Bn Association attended the National Day of Commemoration in Sligo on Sunday 9th A special day of Commemoration was held at Lissadell House to mark the 90th anniversary of the death of Countess Markievicz on Saturday 15th July 2017. Our Association was well represented on the day. There were also members of the O.N.E., U.N.V.A and some of the veteran's of the seige of Jadotville present. RTE covered the event with the march past of Lissadell House featuring on the main evening news.

Association members attended a Commemorative Event in Straide Co,Mayo, on Sunday 25th of June.
Annual Tour 21st of June 2017
Our annual tour took place on 21st June 2017. Fifty two members and friends thoroughly enjoyed the day. Tea and scones in Roscommon was followed by a visit to Athlone Castle. Then on to Galway for a tour of Galway museum and free time in this ancient city. On the return journey we stopped off for dinner in the Moate Golf Club Restuarant for a fabulous dinner. Our thanks to Francie and team for the organising and to you our loyal members and friends for your continued support.
Michael Moffatt Remembered Kiltoghert Graveyard, June 4th, 2017.
Members of the 19th Bn Association, the ONE and American Legion attended the unveiling of a headstone in Kiltoghert graveyard at 2.30 on Sunday 4th June 2017. The stone marks the grave of Cootehall native Michael Moffatt who was killed in action in France in 1918.
Michael Noone has written a fine report which is on Page 21 of the Roscommon Herald dated Tuesday 30th May 2017.
In 1922 the American government offered the families of those KIA of Irish birth the option of having the remains repatriated home to Ireland. At this time Ireland was in the midst of a civil war so the remains were brought from Dublin by rail to Carrick where the family met the train picked up the remains and brought them to the family burial ground in Kiltoghert.
The headstone was unveiled by Michael,s nephew Eamon Moffatt. It was then blessed by Fr. Brendan McDonagh who led a decade of the rosary. A US burial flag was then folded and presented to the next of kin. The last post was sounded and the Irish and American anthems were played.

AGM and Social 2017
The 9th Annual AGM took place in Tommy Heraghty’s Pub, Manorhamilton on Friday 27th January 2017.
The meeting was well attended and each Coy of the former 19th was represented.
Tommie Heraghty will be the President of the Association for the coming year. Seamus O’Donnell is the new chairman. Gerry Tonry will continue as the general secretary and Pat Casey is the minutes recording secretary. Pat Conroy continues as treasurer and Francie Geelan will look after membership. Full committee list later. The meeting was very appreciative of the work done by the officers and committee during 2016.
The meeting was followed by an excellent meal. Many thanks to all the organisers of the event. It was a really lovely night.
